Hosting-panel prices are not always comparable from the headline alone. Some licenses are sized by server, while others change with the number of accounts managed by that server.
Define the billing unit
Determine whether the vendor counts servers, accounts, websites, domains, users, or another unit. One account may contain several domains, so account count and website count are not interchangeable.
Model realistic growth
Calculate today’s cost and scenarios for the next account thresholds. Include every licensed server and any charge applied above the base allowance.
Include non-license costs
Add taxes, infrastructure, support, required extensions, backups, monitoring, migration work, and staff time. Annual discounts should be compared with the same commitment period.
Record the source and date
Pricing changes. Save the official vendor URL, date checked, billing period, tax treatment, and assumptions so another person can reproduce the estimate.
